Bug Hotels and Healthy Eating

Six Beaver Scouts work together to place foods on a food group chart

Another week, another meeting.

We started off this week by doing a fire drill. They did excellently! Everyone listened and we all gathered outside at the muster point for the register to be called.

Once we did all we needed to do for the drill, we headed back inside where the group split into our sections.

The Squirrels are working on their Go Wild badge and so talked about the sorts of wild animals we might see in our country compared to wild animals in others. While they were chatting, they were creating bug hotels to place in the church's car park.

While the Squirrels made hotels, the Beavers were working on their Health & Fitness badge. They learned about food groups and how to tell the foods apart with regards to their classifications. They also discussed good hygiene and were set a challenge to keep a record of their tooth brushing habits.

At the end of the evening, we settled down to have a story and a biscuit before we were picked up.

But that's not the end of the fun for this week. At the weekend, Ferny Crofts are holding fun days, first for the Squirrels, then for the Beavers. So keep an eye out for photos from our adventures!
