End of Term - That's a Wrap!

The SCout Group sits around a cardboard cut out painted fire

So that's it! Term has finished and that completes our first full academic year together. And what a way to end the term!

Squirrel Scouts sit under a table with blankets spread over as a den
The Squirrels in their den

At the start of the evening we had a few little jobs left to complete some badge aspects. This meant den building for the Squirrels. And who doesn't love sitting under tables spread with blankets like it's your own little fort?

The Beavers work on a problem solving activity

While the Squirrels were in their den, the Beavers worked on a problem solving activity. See if you can work it out:

A farmer needs to take grain, a chicken and a fox across the river in a boat. Only two things can go in the boat at a time. The fox can't be left with the chicken or it'll eat it. The chicken will eat the grain if left together. The farmer has to be in the boat to make it move. How do you get everything to the other side without anything being eaten?

After the activities were completed, we moved on. Our parents and carers joined us for the meeting and we all had an indoor campfire together. All together now: A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut!

Did you sing along?

After we sang all our favourite songs, we did the end of term raffle. We rounded the evening off by awarding everyone their badges. We all put in so much hard work over this term and loads of badges were handed out for it. It was a fun end to an amazing term and an epic first year!

Oh, by the way? How did you do with the riddle? Did you remember that a boat will travel both ways across the river? And it doesn't have to go back with just the farmer.

Firstly, the farmer takes the chicken. The fox won't eat the grain. The farmer returns and gets the fox and goes back. The fox is left behind and the chicken is returned in the boat. The farmer leaves the chicken on its own and goes back with the grain. Finally, the farmer leaves the grain and the fox on the other side of the river and goes back empty. The chicken is picked up and they rejoin on the other side.

Check out the other photos from our final meeting this term and see how many of us were awarded our badges!
