Fun in the Sun for District Camp Day!

Every year our district runs an activity camp. From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, the whole of Gosport District gets together to take over Lyons Copse, the Solent Scout Training Centre.

Last year our group had only had 2 meetings so it was decided we wouldn't attend until we knew each other better. This year, the time had come.

It was a really long day for us all but with all the fun activities going on, we barely noticed!

We split up, Squirrels and Beavers as some of the activities have different age levels.

With Mongoose, Toad, Vixen and Bagheera, the Beavers had fun trying out the low ropes obstacle course, go karts, backwoods cooking, the inflatable obstacle course, tomahawk throwing (soft and real), climbing, archery (soft and real), caving in the cave bus, human demolition and the inflatable demolition ball. There were also balance bikes.

The Squirrels went took Otter, Raccoon and Hedgehog around the site and had a wonderful time!

They had a go at the bungee run, balance bikes, backwoods cooking, inflatables, human demolition, hook a duck, balloon dart pop, climbing and archery. There was also tomahawk throwing.

We had a shady picnic lunch near the flagpole while a kite flew overhead giving us a little show.

At the end of the day, most of our group went home but a few of us stayed a little longer for the campfire. We sang songs and did actions around the fire with the rest of the district members. It was an amazing adventure and we're looking forward to going again next year, perhaps for the whole weekend this time!
