We're back! The summer holidays are over and we're ready for a new term of challenges.
Having said that, our summer wasn't as quiet as we'd expected.
Two of our Squirrels, Kyron and Poppy, decided to challenge themselves to earning all their Activity Badges so some summertime meetings were set up to help them achieve their goal. In this first gallery, they were painting suncatchers, exploring the foreshore of Haslar Creek (many, many crabs!), making a corner bookmark, learning about their community, making a snack, sharing stories and creating a picture out of the nature elements they collected on their foreshore walk.
Their next day together, they were joined by another of our Squirrels, Evelyn, to complete their Space Explorer badge. The activities ranged from making their own ice cream, creating moon craters, how the astronauts on the International Space Station go to the toilet, phases of the moon and creating their own rockets.
Finally there was a chance to get to know some other Squirrels from the District in the form of a picnic with 1st Lee on the Solent Squirrel Scouts. Sadly the rain meant it had to take place inside, but it didn't stop the fun!
What a summer, right?
What's in store for the new term then? Well, the planner will be being updated shortly so take a look on the Events page. There's loads of exciting activities planned.
Not only that, but we're opening our Cub Pack at long last on 6th November, the first Wednesday after the October half term. At that point, our meeting times will be changing to allow enough time for the Squirrels and Beavers to still have a meeting without the Cubs afterwards going on too late. We'll move from being 5.30-6.30 to being 5-6 for the Squirrels and Beavers then 6.30-8 for the Cubs.
So, with that in mind, if you know of any young people aged between 8-10½ who are up for a challenge, point them in our direction!
