With our District Activity Day fast approaching, last night's meeting focused mostly on what do we need with us when we camp. We were given options of things we might need, things only the leaders might need and things none of us need.
Between us we decided that we need suitable clothing for the weather (warm, wet and cold), sensible shoes (trainers or walking boots are good but flip-flops and Crocs, not so much!), a teddy (naturally), sun cream and sun hat. For practicality, we need a plate bag including a plate, bowl, cup and cutlery, and a water bottle we can keep topped up throughout the day. We'll round it all off with a backpack to carry things in.
We decided that, as much as we might like to take our tablet or phone, we really don't need them as we'll be far too busy having fun, but our leaders will need a phone for emergencies. They'll also need a first aid kit.
Things none of us will need are games devices, umbrellas (how are we going to do things like a climbing wall if we're holding onto an umbrella!), jeans (if they get wet they feel horrible and take forever to dry out again!) and definitely not the TV remotes!
After the camp game, we moved onto creating birthday cards for our Patron, King Charles III who will be celebrating his official birthday on 15th June this year. His real birthday falls in November, but the monarch always has an official birthday in the summer.
With that in mind, we spent time using stick on resources, colouring pens and scratch art sheets to make unique cards for His Majesty which Bagheera will be posting to the palace. We're hoping we might even get a reply back!
At the end of the meeting, our newest Squirrel, Matthew, made his promise and became a full member of our group.
