The summer holidays are over and we've returned to Scouting! And what a fun way to make a start!
The Beavers worked together to do some tidying outside of the church where we meet to spruce it up a bit. They pulled weeds and grass from the edges of the car park and said hello to a few woodlice too.
While the Beavers were outside, the Squirrels discussed what they remembered and enjoyed most last year and gave ideas for this year too.
The next thing we did was a first for our group. Kyron became the first of our young people to transition from one section to the next as he crossed the river from Squirrels to Beavers. Hedgehog asked him about his favourite part of Squirrels, then he shook hands with all the Squirrels and said goodbye. He then removed his Squirrel jumper and crossed the river, emerging on the other side as a Beaver to shake hands with them all to be welcomed to his new section.
It's official! Kyron is our newest Beaver now and he was awarded his Moving On badge and certificate and given a keepsake copy of the poem he read out before starting his journey.
The evening was topped off by Annalise sharing how she earned her Blue Peter Reading Badge and by awarding badges of our own, earned over the summer break.
As mentioned in a previous post, some of our Squirrels took on the challenge of earning all their badges. With the last few elements crossed off after the shared sessions were over, Poppy has become our first Squirrel to claim all her Activity Badges!
